Propose a Project for a Future ESHackathon
The Evidence Synthesis Hackathon (ESH) is driven by the ideas, challenges, and creativity of its community. We are always looking for new project proposals that can benefit from focused, collaborative work during an ESHackathon.
If you have a challenge, idea, or partially developed concept related to evidence synthesis, we encourage you to submit a proposal.
What kind of projects are we looking for?
We welcome a wide range of proposals across the evidence synthesis ecosystem, including (but not limited to):
- Methodological innovation
New approaches to systematic reviews, maps, meta-analysis, or evidence integration. - Tools and workflows
Development or improvement of software, pipelines, or platforms that support evidence synthesis. - AI and automation
Responsible and transparent use of AI to support stages of the review process (e.g. screening, extraction, critical appraisal). - Standards and guidance
Development of reporting standards, protocols, or best-practice guidance. - Applications and case studies
Applying evidence synthesis methods to real-world problems in health, environment, social science, or beyond. - Open science and reproducibility
Projects that improve transparency, accessibility, and reproducibility of evidence.
What makes a good ESHackathon project?
Strong proposals typically:
- Address a clear and meaningful problem
- Are scoped to make tangible progress within a short, intensive event
- Benefit from collaboration across disciplines or skill sets
- Have clear outputs (e.g. prototype, framework, dataset, guidance document)
- Contribute to the broader evidence synthesis community
You do not need to have a fully developed project – early-stage ideas are very welcome.
What happens next?
Submitted proposals will be reviewed by the ESH organising team. Selected projects will be:
- Featured as part of upcoming ESHackathons
- Matched with participants based on skills and interests
- Supported during the event to maximise progress and impact
